This will be an interesting exercise as I begin the countdown to my 52 birthday effective April 26th, 2015.  My birthday is June 16th — I don’t share that with you so you can send me presents and the like.  Although, you can, if you want!

But, June 16th will be my last day on Facebook.  Not the most important announcement in the world.  In fact, not even really an announcement.  Just a fact.  And, in the whole scheme of life and things a pretty boring one at that.

At roughly the exact moment I am writing this there are approximately 7,309,751, 279 people on this Earth according to http://www.worldometers.com

I suspect by the time I am done writing this that number will have changed far more than I care to think about.

By the middle of 1963, the year I was born, the world population was 3,201,178,277.  Clearly, things have gotten a bit more crowded on Earth since then.

My goal of leaving Facebook to start this endeavor and blog — Mischellaneous — is to reframe my focus about what I want to do, and say and commit to in the days, weeks, months and years ahead.

Facebook has been a great place to reconnect with old friends — stay in touch with them and family — make new friends — and run like the dickens away from others!  It’s a fascinating journey everyday and one that I have concluded is no longer something that gives me the satisfaction that comes with the time allotted to it and my time on it.

So, if you care to stay in touch with me after I leave Facebook on June 16th, 2015 then feel free to follow my ranting and raving on here — Mischellaneous.  If you don’t, I won’t take it personally.

It’s a hard thing in a world of 7 billion plus people to feel as though you have something unique to share with a couple of them — a dozen of them — a hundred of them — or more.

It’s even harder to think there’s an original thought in a world of 7 billion people.  Or, an original person.

Each of us, simply through the science and nature and God of it all, is unique.  I don’t know how, but I believe it.  I feel it.

So, this is my way of feeling it.  It’s been a journey for nearly 52 years — I am excited to see what happens in the next 48 years!
